LightSheer® DESIRE™ Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a fast, relatively pain-free solution which gives longer-lasting results, compared to other methods such as plucking, shaving, waxing, electrolysis and chemical depilatories. It is one of the most widely recognised processes for removing unwanted hair from the body. The LightSheer desire system from Lumenis is the most clinically advanced laser used for the hair removal.
What is the LightSheer Desire Laser?
The LightSheer Desire Laser is the newest generation of laser hair removal technology, and the most advanced member of Lumenis LightSheer family of products.
It uses clinically proven diode laser technology to permanently remove unwanted hair, comfortably and effectively, giving:
- Long-lasting results
• Comfortable treatments
• Short treatment times
It works by combining two technologies:
- High-Speed Vacuum Assisted technology for treatment of large areas, requiring no prep and no gel, and
- ChillTip™ Sapphire integrated cooling system that momentarily numbs the skin to maximize patient comfort while treating smaller or more delicate areas with precision.
How does the LightSheer Desire device work?
The laser pulse specifically attacks hair follicles by travelling through the pigment in the hair, down to the root, where the energy is absorbed by the bulb. During this process the hair follicles are destroyed and the blood supply to the follicle gets is cut off, while the surrounding tissue remains unharmed.
A single laser hair removal treatment will generally take anything from 10 minutes to 90 min, depending on the part of your body being treated. Due to the way the body produces hair, you will need more than one session as the hair grows in cycles and not all follicles could be destroyed in one treatment.
The LightSheer Desire Laser will typically remove hairs permanently in 4-8 sessions, catching them on different growth cycles.
Candidates for Laser Hair Removal with LightSheer Desire
The LightSheer Desire technology has been clinically tested and proven to be suitable for most of skin types for both men and women.
How many treatments will I need?
Hair colour, density, location and skin type are all contributing factors of how many treatments you will require. We recommend that you take up a course of between 4-8 treatments. You may also need a few maintenance treatments
Do I need a patch test?
A patch test is done on every area you wish to treat due to the varied sensitivity of the skin on different parts of the body. You must have a patch test at least 48 hours before treating the whole area.
